Bringing statues to life: Horatio Nelson

Famous for his victories at the Battle of Trafalgar and the Battle of Copenhagen, Nelson’s achievements were celebrated with London’s tallest statue.

He was fatally shot by a marksman at Trafalgar. His last words were not, as believed, “Kiss me, Hardy”, but the rather more patriotic “God and my country”.
